$400,000 Filly Leads Way for Epicenter at Fasig-Tipton October

Epicenter’s yearlings continued to be in demand at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale with a $400,000 filly topping his 28 sold from 28 offered.

The filly offered by Lane’s End as agent for Coteau Grove Farms was purchased by Mo Speed Racing after her Gr.3 winning half-brother Tumbarumba added two updates to the page with wins in the Gr.3 Ack Ack S. and the R.A. “Cowboy” Jones S. to take his record to seven wins. Tumbarumba is one of three winners from three to race out of two-time winner Naive Enough.

That Street Sense mare is a full sister to stakes winner and Gr.1-placed Light The City, who produced another Gr.1 performer in Illumination. A half-sister is also the dam of stakes placed Grand Wiser, who added two wins to his record after the catalog was finalized to take his record to 16 victories.

Under this filly’s third dam is Gr.3 winner and Gr.2 placed Strategic Partner and the stakes winning dam of American Pharoah’s Gr.3 winner Maven. There are eight more stakes performers named under her fourth dam.

MWG went to $300,000 to purchase a filly out of Lookin Sharp offered by Paramount Sales.

This filly’s two-time winning dam is a full sister to the stakes placed Lucky In Malibu and a half-sister to five-time stakes winner Malibu Beauty, dual stakes winner Steady Warrior, and stakes winner Steady N Love. Her four-time winning dam Slow and Steady added a seventh stakes performer to her record after the catalog was released when her juvenile filly Just Philtored won a stakes as one of her three victories in four starts.

Steady N Love is following in her dam’s footsteps as the dam of the stakes winning It’s Hammertime and Shackled Love. Lookin Sharp’s first to race also hints at promise for the yearling’s dam with her first runner placing after the catalog was released.

Epicenter’s yearlings also brought $280,000, $240,000, $235,000, etc. with a $100,286 average and a 100% sold to offered result.
