Epicenter Momentum Continues Into Second Week of Keeneland September

The momentum from a good first two Keeneland September Yearling Sale books for Epicenter carried over into the later books when the first-crop stallion’s yearlings sold for up to $475,000 during Books 3 through 5B.

Chad Summers and Pedro Lanz led the Epicenter charge with a pair of $475,000 colts for the stallion.

Summers purchased his colt from Gainesway with the Winchell Thoroughbreds-bred out of Speightstown mare My Bronx Tail. A two-time winner, her first foal of racing age is 3-year-old six-time winner Mybronxbaby. My Bronx Tail joins Grade III winner and multiple Grade I-placed Skinner as two of the winners out of Grade III winner Winding Way.

This page is strong throughout with Winding Way a full sister to three-time Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Kauai Katie and out of the stakes winning More Than Pretty. More Than Pretty is one of two stakes winners out of her own dam as well.

My Bronx Tail had an Epicenter filly this year.

Lanz, as agent for KAS Stables, was the winning bidder on an Epicenter colt offered by Eaton Sales during the fourth book.

The colt was bred by Tuscany Bloodstock out of winning American Pharoah daughter Bellucci. Bellucci is a half-sister to Grade I winner Salty, stakes winner Lady Moscato, and stakes placed Salty as Can Be from the five other winners out of stakes placed Theycallmeladyluck. That mare also saw another one of her winners produce the stakes placed Thirsty in Vegas.

Theycallmeladyluck is one of two stakes performers out of Grade III winner Vegas Prospector, who is a daughter of stakes winner Hill Billy Dancer and half-sister to stakes winner She Rides Tonite. In all, there are 10 stakes performers named under the four dams on the page.

Books 3 through 5B also saw Epicenter yearlings sell for $350,000, $300,000, $300,0000, $290,000, etc.

In all, Epicenter saw his 92 yearlings sold at this year’s September sale average $137,039 with a $12,607,500 gross. That gross put him 12th among all stallions at the sale and third among the first crop stallions.
