$300,000 for St Mark’s Basilica Colt
The first day of the NZB Ready to Run Sale at Karaka on Wednesday produced a great result for a handsome bay colt from the first Australian bred crop of 2YO’s by St Mark’s Basilica that sold for $300,000.
Consigned by Leanach Lodge, the colt from Pride Rock produced a sharp breeze up gallop in 10.53 seconds and was snapped up by Louis Le Metayer of Astute Bloodstock.
Well stamped by his sire, the colt is a half-brother to two winners and is from well related Fastnet Rock mare Pride Rock, a metro winning full sister to Group I winning sprinter Lone Rock from the family of Group I winners Laisserfaire and Personal.
He was a successful pinhook having been sourced from the Twin Hills stud draft at Inglis Premier for $140,000 by CH Bloodstock / Leanack Lodge.
St Mark’s Basilica will have his first Australian runners this season and has already sired 19 winners in the Northern Hemisphere headed by Group I winner Diamond Necklace.
