Another Smart Juvenile Emerges For Wootton Bassett
It was a case of another day, another Ballydoyle maiden winner by Wootton Bassett on Saturday, as Warsaw (2c Wootton Bassett – Espania, by Galileo) made an impressive debut in the five-furlong maiden at Navan.
Ridden prominently by Jack Cleary, the well-related colt quickened to lead before the final furlong and ran on well to score by two and three quarter lengths.
Stable representative Chris Armstrong commented: “When Jack asked him he was professional and lengthened all the way to the line. He was professional, he travelled and did everything right. If he comes out of it well, we could look at maybe one of the Ascot races.”
On Wootton Bassett, Armstrong remarked: “He's just a freak, there's no other word. He is the ultimate deal. To start with at home, they are very good to work with. They have great temperaments, good minds, good movers. When you bring them to the races, they show their attributes on the track. Trip-wise they tick every box.”
Warsaw was bred by Coolmore, who now race him in partnership with Westerberg. He is the first foal out of Espania (Galileo), an unraced own-sister to Epsom oaks heroine Forever Together (Galileo) and Fillies’ Mile winner Together Forever (Galileo), herself the dam of City Of Troy (Justify).
