True Love No Nay Never Newmarket

Cheveley Park Stakes Victory For No Nay Never’s True Love

True Love (2f No Nay Never - Alluringly, by Fastnet Rock) added a first Group 1 success to her CV when landing the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Ballydoyle-trained filly had landed the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes and Group 2 Railway Stakes earlier on in the season - the latter by an emphatic five lengths - and she was going one better than her second in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes last month.

Ridden by Wayne Lordan, the daughter of No Nay Never was positioned prominently and pressed the front runner from two furlongs out. She stuck to her task well to record victory by three-quarters of a length.

Aidan O’Brien said: “We’re delighted with her, Wayne gave her a lovely ride and she’s a fine, big, powerful filly who travels well.

“She has a great constitution, she’s strong and she has a great mind. You never know until you get through the winter and through the spring and see what they’re going to do. She’s a very big filly, but she’s definitely not short of speed.

“I wouldn’t be sure [about her getting a mile], she is quick and she’s by No Nay Never, who is a big influence for speed.

“She could go to America [for the Breeders’ Cup], it depends what the lads want to do.”

The Coolmore homebred was continuing a fine season for No Nay Never, whose other leading performers include Group 1 City of York Stakes victor Never So Brave, Group 2 Norfolk Stakes winner Charles Darwin, the unbeaten American Grade 3-winning juvenile Hey Nay Nay and Group 3 Firth of Clyde Stakes victress Catching The Moon.
