Constitution River (wootton bassett) Curragh

Exciting Wootton Bassett Colt Lands Group 2 Futurity Stakes

Constitution River (2c Wootton Bassett - Chuppy, by Le Havre) became the latest stakes-winning juvenile for his sire when landing the Coolmore Stud Wootton Bassett Tom Cooper Irish EBF Futurity Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

The Ballydoyle-trained colt was making his third start after a narrow second on debut at Newmarket and then a three-and-three-quarter-length win at Galway last month.

Ridden by Wayne Lordan, the son of Wootton Bassett was sent to the front in the seven-furlong contest and stayed there to post a comfortable two-length victory.

Aidan O’Brien said: “He’s a lovely, straight forward horse. He’d a lovely run first time and was still very green when he won the next day.

“Wayne gave him a lovely ride, and he quickened well.

“Obviously you have to look at the National Stakes with him, and he’s going to be very happy going up in trip whenever that time comes.”

Constitution River was bred by S A R L Lg Bloodstock.
