Christmas Day Camelot Leopardstown

Group 3 Success For Juvenile Camelot Colt

Christmas Day (2c Camelot - Beauly, by Sea The Stars) continued his progress with a first Group strike in the Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained son of Camelot had got off the mark on his third start at Gowran Park last month and he took his form up another notch with a battling success over A Boy Named Susie (by Starspangledbanner), with Port Of Spain (by St Mark’s Basilica) in third.

Christmas Day was continuing a good day for Camelot, who was represented earlier on the card by seven-length maiden scorer Amelia Earhart.

Stable representative Chris Armstrong said: “He’s progressed from run to run and he took great confidence from the win the last day.

“He was tough at the finish. Jack [Cleary, rider] gave him a lovely ride, that’s his first Group winner and he’s having an unbelievable year – long may it continue over the next couple of weeks.

“He’s one that will hopefully winter well and come back for a trial in the spring.”
