No Nay Never Filly Registers Comfortable Maiden Win

Smiling (3f No Nay Never - Coral Shell, by High Chaparral) got off the mark with a four-length victory at Down Royal on Monday.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly had run consistently on her four previous starts and, stepping down to seven furlongs from a mile in May, came home strongly to win in easy fashion under Wayne Lordan.

Lordan said: “She weakened that day [fifth in Naas], Naas can be a little bit stiff in the last furlong. I thought around here would suit her back to seven [furlongs] because she has plenty of pace. The ground is not bad, so she handled that fine."

The daughter of No Nay Never was continuing her sire's red-hot run of form after True Love's victory in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes on Saturday.

Smiling was bred by Lynch Bages Ltd.
