Son Of No Nay Never Gets Off The Mark

Controlled (2g No Nay Never - Ultrasonic, by Mizzen Mast) got off the mark at the second time of asking with a clear-cut success at Naas on Thursday.

The Ballydoyle-trained two-year-old was prominent early on under Jack Cleary and took up the lead with two furlongs left to run. Controlled stayed on well inside the final 110 yards to score by a comfortable three lengths.

Stable representative Chris Armstrong said: “We put the blinkers on Controlled at home just to help him come forward a bit quicker, and in fairness they have worked today. Jack gave him a lovely ride, they went an even tempo and when he asked him, he quickened. When the second [Aegina] came to him, he found another bit which is a good sign.

“Jack said he’s not stuck to five [furlongs] and could go seven, so we could have a look at the Star Appeal or the Legacy at Dundalk in the first week of October. He should have no problem stepping up into Listed class.”

Controlled was bred by Newstead Breeding.
