Wootton Bassett Filly Gains Maiden Victory

Ice Dancer (2f Wootton Bassett - Lugnaquilla, by Galileo) gained her first win when getting off the mark at Gowran Park on Saturday.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained two-year-old was unlucky in running on debut last month but put that right when leading from the off in the mile maiden.

Ridden by Wayne Lordan, Ice Dancer came home strongly to score by half-a-length, while a further half-length back in third was Mixed Feelings (by Sioux Nation).

Stable representative Chris Armstrong said of the Wootton Bassett filly: “She’s a fine big filly. Things just didn’t happen for her, and she was far too green at the Curragh the first day.

“In fairness she still did plenty of things wrong, she’ll be better going a stride quicker. She’s one to really look forward for next year, she’s a massive big filly. She’ll be a lovely middle-distance filly.

“She might go to the Silken Glider [Stakes] next. Whatever she does at two will be a bonus."

Ice Dancer was bred by Coolmore.
