
Wootton Bassett Juvenile Makes All To Group 3 Success
Composing (2f Wootton Bassett – Epona Plays, by Australia) followed up last month’s maiden win with a taking performance in the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown.
A promising fifth on debut, the Aidan O’Brien-trained bay won a Curragh maiden next time out and was sent off favourite to follow up on Thursday. Making all under Ryan Moore, the daughter of Wootton Bassett quickened turning for home and asserted before the final furlong, going on to score by three and a quarter lengths.
O’Brien later commented: “We’re delighted with her, she’s a lovely straightforward filly. She won lovely the last day and Ryan loved her. She was very professional.”
On future plans, he noted: “She’ll go for the Debutante Stakes at the Curragh next and could be a filly for the Moyglare.”
Owned by Coolmore partners with Westerberg, the Wootton Bassett filly is the first foal bred by Renzo Forni out of multiple Group winner Epona Plays (Australia).
