Camelot Colt Delivers At Dundalk

Group 1-entered Pierre Bonnard (2c Camelot - Sultanina, by New Approach) opened his account at the second attempt when striking at Dundalk on Friday.

The Ballydoyle-trained colt was sent off favourite and duly obliged under Wayne Lordan, racing in second before going on to win by a comfortable two-and-a-quarter lengths.

Stable representative Chris Armstrong said: “He's a lovely horse. Wayne rode him in the maiden at Leopardstown and the form has worked out well. Wayne came in off him that day and absolutely loved him. He said he's a great mover and he'll handle quick ground and an ease in the ground.

“We thought coming here the trip would suit him lovely. If he handled the ground, we thought he would be very hard to beat. Also the big incentive of the Goffs Bonus - there was no point in leaving an extra 50k behind.

“He has got a host of options this year and he's one to really look forward to next year. He should be a lovely middle-distance horse for next year.”

Pierre Bonnard was bred by Rathasker Stud.
