Camelot Colt In Command In Longchamp Group 3
The future looks bright for Uther (3c Camelot – Sosia, by Shamardal), after the Wertheimer brothers’ homebred ran out a stylish winner of the Group 3 Prix Noailles at Longchamp.
Christophe Ferland’s charge emerged as a smart prospect when making a winning debut at Chantilly in November and returned last month to be narrowly denied in a Listed contest at Saint-Cloud. Partnered by Mickael Barzalona on Sunday, the bay raced towards the back of the field and was switched out before the two-furlong marker. He ran on strongly to lead inside the final furlong and went on to beat the favourite by a length and three quarters.
“He has a long acceleration rather than a real turn of foot,” Ferland later reflected. “He's still a big baby but he has quality, and I don't think he'll have any problem staying a mile and a half in time. Next he could go to the Prix Greffulhe.”
