Classy Camelot Filly Scores On Second Start
The well-related Heather (3f Camelot – Question Times, by Shamardal) built on a debut second to justify even-money favouritism at Dundalk on Friday evening.
The Ger Lyons-trained filly was narrowly denied over a mile in December and stepped up to ten and a half furlongs in Friday’s maiden. Ridden prominently by Colin Keane, the way was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong and kept on well to score by two lengths.
“It was lovely to get that box ticked with her pedigree,” Keane commented after the race. “She had a lovely run the first day. With that pedigree, the further they go the better they seem to be. She's a nice type of filly and handles the good surface.”
Owned by Mrs David Magnier and bred by the Magnier family’s Sweetmans Bloodstock, Heather is a full-sister to Irish Derby winner Latrobe (Camelot). Their full-sister Pink Dogwood (Camelot) won a Listed race and placed in three Group 1 contests.
