First Mares Carrying To City Of Troy In Demand At Park Paddocks

The first mares in foal to unbeaten champion juvenile and world champion three-year-old City Of Troy proved popular at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale this week, fetching prices of up to 300,000gns.

They were headlined by Baroda Stud’s stakes-placed Smile Of Love, a half-sister to Listed winner Primo Bacio who was purchased by SackvilleDonald during the Sceptre Session on Monday.

Branton Court Stud’s Group-winning Pivotal mare Last Empire made 260,000gns to David Redvers at the Sceptre Session on Tuesday, while Avenue Sales’ well-related American Pharoah mare Girl Like You was purchased by Camas Park Stud for 180,000gns.

In addition, The Castlebridge Consignment’s Ocean Tides, a mare from the family of Group 1 scorer Johannes Vermeer, made 170,000gns to Highclere Agency.

City Of Troy covered a high-class first book of mares in 2025 and he will stand his second season for €60,000.
