Progressive Camelot Filly Gains Maiden Victory
The well-related Dancing Teapot (3f Camelot – Lady Adelaide, by Australia) built on previous promise to justify favouritism in Monday’s fillies’ maiden at Gowran Park.
Runner-up on her first two attempts, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly made a promising turf debut last month and returned to the mile trip on her fourth start. Dylan Browne McMonagle overcame a wide draw in stall 14 to race prominently and pushed the bay along to lead from two furlongs out. She kept on well under his urgings to beat In My Teens (Camelot) by a length.
“She did well to get across from there,” O’Brien commented. “I think she’s a filly that could progress. She’s a very good worker, and she obviously has a very good pedigree. She’s a winner now and hopefully she can progress.
Owned and bred by Fishdance, Dancing Teapot is a full-sister to Group 2 scorer and Group 1 performer Dancing Gemini (Camelot).
