Promising Camelot Filly Gains Maiden Win

Amelia Earhart (2f Camelot - Venus De Milo, by Duke Of Marmalade) gained a deserved first victory when easily scoring at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The Ballydoyle-trained filly had placed in three of her four previous starts and stepped up to win by seven lengths in a race won last year by subsequent triple Group 1 heroine Minnie Hauk.

Ridden by Jack Cleary, Amelia Earhart disputed the lead and went clear from over a furlong out. In second was Chasing Paradise (by Churchill), with another Camelot filly in Knowinmeknowinyou in third.

Stable representative Chris Armstrong said:- “She had four lovely runs coming into this race and the step up to a mile really allowed her to show her true potential.

“She’s a filly that has shown a lot of class at home and we always knew going the extra furlong was going to be a big help to her.

“It’s lovely to get the win next to her name as a two-year-old. She’ll be a lovely filly to start off in an Oaks trial next year. She’s a filly with a touch of class.”

Amelia Earhart was bred by Coolmore.
