Promising St Mark’s Basilica Filly Claims Maiden Win

Heart Beats True (2f St Mark’s Basilica - Qatar Princess, by Marju) became the 20th individual first-crop winner for St Mark’s Basilica with a comfortable success at Southwell on Friday.

The Hugo Palmer-trained juvenile had finished second at Newcastle earlier this month before going one better with a two-and-a-half-length on just her third start.

Heart Beats True was ridden by Billy Loughnane and the pair were prominent early on before taking up the lead over a furlong out and going clear at the line. In third place was My Shagaf (by Sioux Nation).

The daughter of St Mark’s Basilica was bred by Barronstown Stud.
