Son Of Camelot Gains Fourth Stakes Success
Saturday saw Sir Lucan (7g Camelot – Sparrow, by Oasis Dream) land back-to-back runnings of the Listed Winter Cup at Rosehill Gardens, marking a fourth stakes success overall for the former Ballydoyle inmate.
Adam Hyeronimus, who partnered the Gai Waterhouse and Adrien Bott-trained bay to both wins, later quipped: “Can you book me for the horse in this race next year?”
“It was a good win,” the winning rider continued. “I had to use him to get to the spot I wanted and I got there and after that it was just a matter of keeping him in a rhythm, keeping him relaxed.
“He can sprint once he has a soft, economical run but he had to do it early and he's had to carry 57kg today in this race so he's done a good job and he was tough late.'”
Sir Lucan was purchased privately from Ballydoyle, for whom he won the Listed Yeats Stakes and finished second in the Group 3 Gordon Stakes. Bred by Coolmore, the son of Camelot has since won three Listed races and placed in multiple Group contests for current connections.
He is a full-brother to dual Group 1 winner Sir Dragonet (Camelot) and a half-brother to Group 2 scorer Les Pavots (No Nay Never).
