St Mark’s Basilica Colt Breaks Maiden in Style at Hakodate

Quiet Eye (2c St Mark’s Basilica – Blanc Bonheur, by Deep Impact) produced a professional performance to land his maiden victory at Hakodate, Japan on Sunday.

Trained by Kazuya Nakatake and ridden by Yuichiro Shibata, the promising juvenile jumped sharply and made all over 1200 metres to score convincingly in a 16-runner field.

Bred by North Hills Co. Ltd and owned by Kodai Maeda, Quiet Eye is out of Blanc Bonheur, a daughter of Deep Impact, making him an exciting cross of two Japanese Group 1 families with top European influence.

With a win now under his belt, Quiet Eye looks set for a bright future in Japan’s competitive juvenile ranks.
