St Mark’s Basilica Filly Readily Lands Maiden Win

Art Gallery (2f St Mark’s Basilica - Fughetta, by Dubawi) landed her first win on just her third outing with a comfortable display at Newcastle on Tuesday.

The James Ferguson-trained juvenile had finished a narrow second on her previous start at Wolverhampton and she took another step forward with a length-and-a-half score under PJ McDonald.

Art Gallery was in touch with the leaders early on before making headway to take up the lead a furlong from home. She was not troubled to win well at the line.

A granddaughter of champion filly The Fugue, the St Mark’s Basilica filly was bred by Watership Down Stud.
