Corniche Yearlings End Season at Fasig-Tipton October

After siring the $250,000 sale topper at the Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearlings Sale last month, Corniche is back with 16 on offer at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale to wrap up the yearling sales.

Corniche’s second offering through the ring comes in with plenty of updates when Lane’s End offers Hip 123.

Bred by Emily and Oliver Bushnell in Kentucky, the colt is out of Dixie Chatter mare Locust Bride. That mare is now the dam of three winners from four to race with her 3-year-old Radio Goo Goo winning after the catalog was released and her juvenile placing on debut on September 2nd. The mare’s Munnings’s 4-year-old also added an update when he placed after the catalog came out with only one of her four runners not having a recent update.

Locust Bride is a half-sister to Munnings’ stakes placed Vulcan and is out of a granddaughter of multiple Grade I placed Chile Chatte, who also produced Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Horse Greeley.

Taylor Made Sales consigns Hip 662, a filly out of the winning Starship Gussie.

That yearling’s half siblings provided a timely update when the 3-year-old won after the catalog was released and the 2-year-old Little Gussie placed in her first two starts. They aren’t the only ones providing updates with the mare’s half-sister Starship Warspeed seeing her granddaughter La Wally finish third in the Grade I Del Mar Debutante and second in the Grade II Oak Leaf Stakes after the catalog way released. Starship Warspeed is also the dam of three-time Grade I winner Shedaresthedevil and two graded stakes placed runners. Another one of Starship Gussie’s half-sisters is also the dam of the stakes winning Laughing Boy.

One generation back are more successful racehorses in Grade II winner and Grade I placed Crafty C.T., stakes winner Carmen’s Baby and the dam of Grade II placed Starbase.

A half-brother to four-time winner Mediapunta bred by R.S. Evans in New York sells with Taylor Made as Hip 946 on Wednesday.

Mediapunta is one of two to race out of their winning Medaglia d’Oro dam Akron Gold, who is one of seven winners out of her own dam. That dam is three-time stakes winner Akronism, who produced Grade II winner Have At It and stakes placed Akron Moon among her runners. Akron Moon is likely better known as the dam of dual Grade I winner Bellafina and multiple stakes winner Diamond King. Another daughter is the dam of the Grade III-placed duo of Allworthy and Miss Mattie B.

Warrendale Sales consigns Hip 1182, a half-sister to Grade III winner and multiple Grade II-placed Chaos Theory.

The pair are out of two-time winning Tale of the Cat mare Chaotic Cat, who has four winners from seven to race and foaled this filly in New York for Bluewater Sales. Chaotic Cat is a daughter of the stakes winning Joyful Chaos, who has stakes performers of her own in the Grade I-placed Sweet Shirley Mae and Grade II placed I Remember Mama. Sweet Shirley Mae went on to produce No Nay Never’s stakes winner Mae Never No.

This filly’s fourth dam is the Grade I winner Colonial Waters, whose descendants also include Grade I winner Success Brocken and Grade II winner Panama Canal.

The sale kicks off on Monday, October 20 and runs through Thursday, October 23 with sessions starting at 10am daily.
