Link to an entryThe first crop of champion Epicenter sees four representatives go through the ring at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale on August 4 and 5.
The first Epicenter yearling through the ring comes from the Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services consignment, who offers Hip 74 for Willow Oaks Stable.
The filly’s Grade III winning dam Cosmic Burst is also the dam of two-time winner Brunch Punch, who is still an active racehorse and won earlier this year. Cosmic Burst’s half-brother Global Phenom became their dam’s sixth winner with a victory on July 5 with Peggy Ring’s 4-year-old also an active racehorse who registered a win earlier this year. Cosmic Burst sees each of her first eight dams either producing stakes winners or stakes producers with all but two doing both.
A half-sister to Grade I winner Rattle N Roll sells as Hip 120 with Four Star Sales during the second day of the sale.
Bred by Magnolia Mares, the filly is out of the winning Jazz Tune who is also a half-sister to stakes winner Rap Tale and stakes placed Cherokee Rap. The five stakes performers under this filly’s first two dams are only the tip of the iceberg. Her third dam is the great Dance Review, who is one of the great broodmares of recent times.
Dance Review is the dam of Grade I winners Another Review and No Review and Grade II winner Dance Colony among her eight stakes performers. Under her name are also successful runners such as three-time Grade I winner Cavorting, four-time Grade I winner Clairiere, and Grade II winners Blueskiesnrainbows, Promenade Girl, Moon Colony, and Sparkling Review.
A colt from the family of Group I Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Sagamix sells as Hip 192 with Brookdale, who bred the colt out of Saba with J. R. Ward Stables and Gary Chervenell.
A two-time winner herself, Saba is the dam of two winners from two to race and is a half-sister to Grade I winner Sagawara. Sagawara went on to produce the stakes placed Sanary while another half-sister produced the stakes placed Branzini.
This is a top-class family with Saba’s dam a full sister to the aforementioned Sagamix and a half-sister to Group I winner Sagacity and bluehen Shastye. Shastye produced Grade I winners Japan and Mogul and Grade II winner Secret Gesture among many others. The colt sees 18 stakes performers on his page overall with six winning Grade I events.
The final Epicenter yearling to enter the ring comes late in the sale when Wynnstay Sales offers Hip 213.
The colt is the first foal out of two-time winner Spanx Legacy and was bred by Wynnstay with Allen Poindexter. Spanx Legacy is a full sister to the multiple Grade III-placed Delta’s Kingdom and half-sister to stakes placed Spanker, who produced Mendelssohn’s stakes placed Spankerboom.
Each of Spanx Legacy’s first seven dams produced at least one stakes performer with nine stakes performers on the colt’s page. Just off the page are Grade I winners I Ain’t Bluffing and Borrego among the 14 stakes performers under stakes winner Cup of Honey.
The Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale takes place at 6:30p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
