Epicenter’s Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Sale Led by $270,000 Filly

It was another successful venture into the sales ring for Epicenter’s first crop this week with a $135,000 average for six sold at the Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Sale.

Legion Bloodstock was the agent for a $270,000 filly consigned by Gainesway.

The filly named Seismic Activity is the first foal out of the Kitten’s Joy mare Soft Shoe Kitten. Soft Shoe Kitten was unraced but is a half-sister to Grade I winner Bigger Picture and full sister to stakes winner and Grade I placed Gung Ho and stakes placed Kitten’s Dancer, who produced the stakes placed Beach Waltz. A full sister to Bigger Picture is also the dam of Grade II-placed Summer Is Tomorrow.

Overall, Soft Shoe Kitten’s dam Glory Dancer produced nine winners to lead the charge of Grade II winner Dancing All Night’s daughters and granddaughters who produced stakes performers with Furia Azteca another Grade I winner for the family.

Dancing All Night is a full sister to Grade I winner and bluehen mare Dancing Spree.

Joe Migliore was the agent for Steven Rocco, Adelphi Racing Club, and Chief Horse Futures when placing a winning $200,000 bid on an Epicenter colt.

Consigned by Indian Creek and bred by Ridley Farm, the colt was the final offering of the sale for his sire and is a half-brother to six winners out of Forest Valentine. That mare has seen all eight of her racing age foals make it to the track with Valentine Wish and Qatari Gold both placing in stakes. Valentine Wish is also the dam of the stakes placed Soleil Volant, who recently added another stakes placing when third in the Tale of the Cat Stakes.

Forest Valentine is a full sister to the Grade 2 winner Carolyn’s Cat, who went on to produce Grade III winner Mufajaah and Uncle Mo’s stakes placed Aunt Kat. The page also includes Grade I winner North Lake Jane and Grade II winner Meadow Flight among others.

Other Epicenters sold for $150,000, $100,000, etc. with an average of $135,000 and median of $125,000.
