Gunite Set for Big Keeneland November
Dual Gr.1 winner Gunite is set to shine in his third breeding stock sale of the season with 36 weanlings on offer at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, including 14 in the first two books.
The first Gunite through the ring comes from Eaton Sales as Hip 62.
Bred by Rosa Colasanti, Dr. Naoya Yoshida and Kara McDermott is a half-brother to two winners from four to race out of the winning Johannesburg mare Crossing The Tape. She has proven to be a productive mare as the dam of seven-time winner Life Mission, who has won a stakes with multiple other stakes placings on his record.
Crossing The Tape is one of eight winners out of multiple stakes winning Gabriellina Giof, who also produced dual Grade 1 winner Gabby’s Golden Gal and Grade 2 winner Always a Princess. One of Cross the Tape’s winning half-sisters is also the dam of dual Grade 1 winner Locked, who added the Gr.2 Woodward S. to his wins after the catalog was finalized.
Summerfield offers Hip 253 on behalf of Old Tavern Farm during the second day of selling.
The February-born colt is out of the placed Malibu Moon mare To The Moon Alice, who has three runners. That trio includes two winners, led by Munnings’ stakes winner Shoot It True, who added a fourth win to her record after the catalog was finalized. To The Moon Alice didn’t win on the track, but is out of the Grade 3 winning Love Match, who produced Gr.2 Mother Good winner Unchained Melody and the dam of two stakes performers.
This page also includes a stakes update with To The Moon Alice’s half-sister Big Love, the granddam of Patrick Star. That dual stakes winner added two stakes placings to his resume recently.
Hip 324 consigned by Hidden Brook is the second foal out of First Samurai mare Brand New Game.
Bred by Hidden Brook with Spruce Lane, Becker, Conley, Gibson, and Hartman, the colt’s dam is a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Arravale. Brand New game’s Grade 2 placed dam Kalosca is also the dam of stakes winner Hollywood Hideaway and Grade 3 placed Hollywood Critic. Arravale produced a Grade 2-placed filly who produced a Group 3 winner while half-sister Landmark produced Group 2 winner Solid Stone, stakes winner Cameron Highland, and Group 2-placed Field of Miracles.
Field of Miracles is one of three stakes producers out of Landmark. Kalosca is also the granddam of champion Senor Testaferro, who added an eighth win to his record after the catalog was finalized.
Legacy Bloodstock offers Hip 607, who has seen Bernardini mare Stella Grace come out running as a broodmare.
The mare’s first foal is a juvenile this year and has been a start almost from the start. In her second start, she won the Texas Thoroughbred Association Futurity and has placed in two stakes since that win with the latest coming on October 17. Scott Pierce and Equine Futures bred this colt, whose granddam is the stakes winning Bacopa Breeze, one of two stakes winners out of her own dam alongside Lovable Lyss.
There are eight more stakes performers under the colt’s fourth dam as well, led by his third dam’s Grade 3 winning full sister Time To Get Even.
The Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale starts the day after Fasig-Tipton’s November Sale, where Gunite has three weanlings on offer.
