Leon Blue (Mo Town) Wins The Rick Violette

Leon Blue Second Stakes Winner of Day for Mo Town

Leon Blue (3g Mo Town x Alana’s Allure, by Shackleford) was one of two stakes winners for his sire on Thursday when the sophomore won his stakes debut in the Rick Violette Stakes.

Melanie Giddings entered her trainee in the 1 1/16-mile turf stakes two starts after breaking his maiden and he proved he was ready to go. Pushed wide by a rival in the first turn, he returned to the rail soon after and closely attended the pacemaker.

Asked to find another gear with three furlongs left to go and went wide into the stretch. He entered a duel soon after and close to the line dug even deeper to win by a neck.

A $100,000 yearling purchase by Paul Braverman from Taylor Made, the colt raced by Braverman with AWC Stables, Gold Square, and Scott Akman has now hit the board in all six of his career starts.

Bred by Cheryl Prudhomme and Dr. Michael Gallivan, Leon Blue is one of two stakes winners from two to race out of Alana’s Allure alongside the stakes winning Allure of Money. Alana’s Allure is out of the Group I-placed Bella Madame and a half-sister to the stakes placed dam of multiple stakes winner Amerikali and the dam of stakes winner and multiple graded stakes placed Queen ofthe Temple.

Joined by Mystic Lake as Mo Towns in the stakes winner’s circle yesterday, he is one of five stakes winners and 10 stakes performers.
