Mo Town Filly Secures Memorial Day Sprint Victory
Mo Town’s Mystic Lake (4f Mo Town x Salty Soul, by Itsmyluckyday) was back to her winning ways on Monday with a win in the Memorial Day Sprint S. at Lone Star Park.
A heavy favorite in the six-furlong race, Mystic Lake motored to the front out of the gate and was pressured early by other rivals. The filly happily responded to jockey Luis Saez in the stretch, never letting another horse see the lead as she raced to a two-length victory.
It was the eighth win in 17 starts for the Saffie Joseph-trained multiple Grade 2 winner, who took her earnings to $1,122,542 in this start. She has won seven stakes in her career with four other stakes placings.
Racing for C2 Racing Stable, she was a $130,000 2-year-old purchase when going through the ring for the second time after being bred by Peggy Costanzo.
Mystic Lake is the first foal out of a daughter of the stakes placed mare Pyramyst, who won 23 races in her career. Pyramyst is a half-sister to the stakes winner and 10-time winner Storm Tale and stakes placed Vancy Pants among the eight winners from eight to race out of her own dam.
Mo Town has sired two stakes winners in 2025 with his five stakes performers sitting him eighth in his generation above stallions such as Good Magic, Girvin, and Army Mule.
