Mystic Lake Wins Eighth Stakes Race

Multiple Grade II winner Mystic Lake (4f Mo Town x Salty Soul, by Itsmyluckyday) added an eighth stakes win to her resume on Thursday with a victory in the Dashing Beauty Stakes at Delaware Park.

Going off as the heavy favorite in the six-furlong dirt race, it was an easy showing for Mystic Lake as she tried to win her second consecutive race. Taking the lead immediately, she was challenged early but held a comfortable lead soon after.

She had to repel another challenge in the turn, but by the time they hit the stretch was well in front to win by an easy 5 ¾ lengths.

Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. for C2 Racing Stable, Stefania Farms, and BAG Racing Stable, Mystic Lake has won nine of 18 starts with four other top three finishes for $1,197,542 in earnings.

This is the first foal out of Salty Soul, a half-sister to four winners from four to race out of the stakes placed Pyramyst. That 23-time winner is one of eight winners out of her own dam including the stakes winning Storm Tale and stakes placed Vancy Pants.

Mo Town has five stakes winners and 10 stakes performers in 2025, with those 10 stakes performers fourth best in his generation. He was also the sire of Rick Violette Stakes winner Leon Blue on Thursday.
