Seven Yearlings On Offer by Epicenter at Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Sale

It’s a seven yearling group for Epicenter at this year’s Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Sale as his first crop enters the ring for the second time in a week in Saratoga.

Following up on a Fasig-Tipton Saratoga that saw a pair of yearlings sell for $275,000, Epicenter’s Hip 338 kicks off proceedings here with Taylor Made Sales.

Offered on behalf of Waldorf Farm, the colt is a half-brother to six winners from eight to race out of Platinum Preferred. Owned by Dr. Jerry Bilinski, the Vindication mare was unraced but has proven to be a good broodmare with her runners including stakes winner and Grade I-placed Midnight Pleasure and Grade III placed Platinum Paynter.

The stakes producing talent runs throughout the family with Platinum Preferred a half-sister to Canadian champion A Bit O’Gold, stakes winner Arco’s Gold, and stakes placed Adjalah. Meanwhile, her granddam produced two more stakes winners and a stakes placed runner with the stakes form continuing off the page as well.

A filly named Seismic Activity sells as Hip 380 through Gainesway late in the first session.

A $120,000 weanling purchase at Fasig-Tipton November, the Flatbird Stable-bred is the first foal for Soft Shoe Kitten. Unraced, Soft Shoe Kitten is a Kitten’s Joy full sister to stakes winner and Grade I-placed Gung Ho and stakes placed Kitten’s Dancer. Her dam’s nine winners also include Grade I winner Bigger Picture and the dam of Grade II-placed Summer Is Tomorrow.

Kitten’s Dancer produced the stakes placed Beach to give Soft Shoe Kitten two stakes producing siblings. This page also includes Grade I winners Furia Azteca, Dancing Spree, Furlough, Fantastic Find, Finder’s Fee, We Can Seek, and Wapi, among others.

A half-brother to Mendelssohn’s multiple stakes placed Awesome Ruta sells as Hip 460 with The New Hill Farm during the second day of the sale.

Bred by Eaton and Thorne, the colt’s Awesome Again dam Awesome Prayer has one foal to race from two aged three or older with that runner placing in multiple stakes. Awesome Prayer is out of Grade I winner Malibu Prayer, who is also the granddam of Japanese stakes winner Cros Parantoux.

A successful mare on the track, Malibu Prayer is the best runner out of stakes winner Grand Prayer, but far from the only stakes horse by the mare. That mare is also the dam of Grade II winner and Grade I placed Valid and Grade III placed Grand Love. Her unraced daughter Bella Carina is also the dam of Grade III winner Delahaye.

This page has plenty of talent with Grade I winner Swagger Jack and champion Silverside among the 15 stakes performers named only under fourth dam Lyrical Prayer.

Ridley Farm is the breeder of Hip 535, a colt offered by Indian Creek as the final offering by Epicenter.

His dam Forest Valentine is the dam of six winners with that group including the stakes placed duo of Valentine Wish and Qatari Gold, with most of the attention currently on Valentine Wish. That mare is a stakes producer of her own with stakes placed son Soleil Volant scoring another stakes placing recently in the Tale of the Cat Stakes.

Forest Valentine is one of three stakes producers out of Grade III winner People’s Princess, who also produced Grade II winner Carolyn’s Cat. That mare is the dam of Grade III winner Mufajaah and Aunt Kat while another mare produced by People’s Princess producing the Grade III-placed Qipco.

Two of this yearling’s first three dams are stakes placed with all three producing stakes performers and stakes producers with seven stakes winners and 10 other stakes placed runners named.

The Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Sale takes place on August 10 and 11. The pedigrees for all seven of Epicenter’s offerings can be found here.
