Third Straight Stakes Victory for Mystic Lake

It was a third straight stakes win for Mystic Lake (4f Mo Town x Salty Soul) on Friday when she won the Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes under the lights at Charles Town.

Returning to the track for the first time since winning the Grade II Charles Town Oaks here last year, the Mo Town daughter was off quickly in the seven-furlong sprint. She kept a comfortable length distance between her and the rest of the field during the early stages before opening up around the far turn.

Tyler Gaffalione made sure the filly stayed safely ahead in the stretch as they crossed the line three lengths ahead of Grade I winner Vahva.

It was the 10th win in 19 starts for the filly trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. for C Two Racing Stables, Stefania Farms, and BAG Racing. An earner of $1,360,042 in earnings, Mystic Lake has won nine stakes with four other stakes top three finishes.

Bred by Peggy Costanzo in Florida, she is the first foal for Salty Soul. That daughter of 23-time winner and stakes placed Pyramyst is a half-sister to four winners from four to race. Pyramysts one of three stakes performers out of her dam, who also produced stakes winner Storm Tale and stakes placed Vancy Pants.

Mo Town is the sire of five stakes winners and 10 stakes performers in 2025 – tying him for fifth in his crop by stakes winners and seventh by stakes performers
