Three Weanlings For Gunite at Fasig-Tipton November

The first crop by Gunite has already been well received with offerings selling for up to $175,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Mixed Sale last month and that momentum looks to continue at Fasig-Tipton November when he has three on offer.

The first Gunite through the sale comes from breeder Mill Ridge Sales when a January-born weanling colt sells as Hip 14.

This is the third foal out of three-time winner Jen Take Charge, who is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Crystal Visions. Their winning A.P. Indy dam You Make Luvin Fun has been a very useful broodmare with her seven winners from seven to race including seven-time winner Global Empire and Magic Ways. This colt’s third dam has been even better as the dam of Gr.2 winner Classic Elegance and granddam of Gr.1 winner Believe You Can with 16 stakes performers in all under her name.

The second Gunite on offer comes from Scott Mallory, who co-bred Hip 34 with Catherine Jennings.

Born on January 25, this colt is out of accomplished broodmare Miss Henny Penny. A stakes placed runner on the track, the Half Ours mare has produced six winners from six to race led by five-time stakes winner The Sky Is Falling and dual stakes winner Door Buster in addition to nine-time winner Ocean Lilly.

Miss Henny Penny is one of two stakes performers out of her own dam with the family including stakes winner and Gr.1 placed Princess V and Gr.1 placed Roman Invasion among others.

The final Gunite through the ring is Hip 66, the Kamden Favorites-bred first foal out of More Than Ready mare Yanira.

The regally bred filly offered by Paramount Sales sees a large amount of stakes form under her stakes placed granddam Boat’s Ghost. That mare is the dam of Gr.1 winner Finnegans Wake, but possibly even more importantly she is the dam of stakes winner and Gr.2-place Puca.

That mare likely doesn’t need any introduction as the dam of dual Gr.1 winner Dornoch, Gr.1 Kentucky Derby winner Mage, and Gr.1 Pennsylvania Derby winner Baeza along with the multiple stakes placed Gunning. There are stakes performers under each dam on this page with racing age foals.

Gunite was a Gr.1 winning racehorse at two and four and was second to studmate Jack Christopher in a Gr.1 at three as well.
