Holy Roman Emperor Filly Gains Third Group 3 Win
Saturday saw Great Generation (4f Holy Roman Emperor – Adutchgirl, by Dutch Art) land back-to-back runnings of the Group 3 Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield, marking a third Group 3 success for the Marco Botti-trained filly.
Partnered by Marco Ghiani on her seasonal return, she raced towards the back of the field in the early stages and began to quicken from two furlongs out. She produced a smart turn of foot approaching the final furlong and led inside the final furlong, keeping on to score by a neck.
“I really love her,” said the winning trainer. “Great Generation has got a really good turn of foot and it's just a matter of when to use it, otherwise she burns out really quickly. She really fought for it. You can ride a horse with lots of confidence when you know them really well and it's nice to see her back winning.”
Botti mentioned the July Cup as a possible target, adding: “I would love to run her there, I must admit. I'd say she's definitely got enough speed for six furlongs and it's something we'll have to discuss with the owners. The nice stiff finish at the July course will suit her down to the ground. There's options over six furlongs at Ascot as well over seven at York.”
The Holy Roman Emperor filly was carrying the Cayton Park Stud colours for the first time on Saturday, having previously won four races for Scuderia Sagam.
