Juvenile Saxon Warrior Filly Easily Lands First Win
Lizzana (2f Saxon Warrior - Texas Queen, by Shamardal) continued the fine run of form for Saxon Warrior’s juveniles with an emphatic win at Kempton on Monday.
Trained by Marco Botti, the Noreen Maher-bred Lizzana was denied just half-a-length on her debut at Wolverhampton last month and she duly went one better on her second start.
Ridden by Marco Ghiani, the Saxon Warrior filly was positioned prominently and travelled strongly turning into the home straight. She led with two furlongs to run and put the race to bed with a two-and-three-quarter-length success.
Lizzana was continuing Saxon Warrior’s excellent recent run with his two-year-olds, among them last Friday’s Listed Star Appeal Stakes scorer Andab and Sunday’s Group 3 Preis des Winterfavoriten scorer Gostam.
The latter is unbeaten in three runs for trainer Andreas Wohler and owners Darius Racing and Michael Motschmann, having also landed last month's Group 3 Zukunfts-Rennen at Baden-Baden.
