Juvenile Sioux Nation Filly Off The Mark

Yellowstone Lake (2f Sioux Nation - Eiriamach Na Casca, by Intense Focus) continued a fine day for Sioux Nation when capturing a first win at Dundalk on Friday.

The Paddy Twomey-trained juvenile had shown plenty of promise in two previous starts, including when fourth to the exciting Diamond Necklace (St Mark’s Basilica) last time out at the Curragh.

Ridden by Billy Lee, the daughter of Sioux Nation was positioned prominently and kept on well for a half-length win. She led home a one-two for Coolmore sires as Camelot’s Emmeleia finished a promising second on debut.

Lee said: "Well franked [her last run] and she just took a little while between races, Paddy gave her a little chance.

"She has come forward. She's done it well there and I thought she did it within herself. She's just a better filly probably coming at something rather than making the running, so hopefully there is more improvement."

Sioux Nation was represented earlier in the day by Group 2 Rockfel Stakes winner Zanthos, while his progeny at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale this week sold for up to €150,000.

Yellowstone Lake was bred by Team Hogdala A B.
