Millionaire Leads Strong Demand For Sioux Nation At Arqana
Consignors reaped rewards with Sioux Nation’s progeny at Saturday’s Arqana Breeze-Up Sale, none more so than Glending Stables, who sold a Sioux Nation filly to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for €1million.
Roderic Kavanagh and Cormac O’Flynn’s offering will carry the silks of KHK Racing, for whom Anthony Stroud saw off an online bidder. “It’s great to get her,” the agent said. “She did a very good time and moved very well. Everything about her ticked the boxes really.”
“The top of the market is so fruitful,” a delighted Roderic Kavanagh later commented. “They want a premium product and she is – hopefully she will go on to be one. It was amazing. You couldn't in your wildest dreams predict that.”
“The ticker was going some!” O'Flynn added. “We may have looked cool on the outside but on the inside we were bubbling. Anthony Stroud has bought a good few from us in recent years and we can't thank him and his clients enough, not just for supporting us but for the whole industry. It keeps us all going for the rest of the year.”
Peter and Ross Doyle had signed the docket for the filly as a yearling and on Saturday, they purchased a filly by the same sire from Lacka House Stables for €140,000.
Blandford Bloodstock brought the sire’s highest-priced colt Station Yard for €320,000, while Highclere Agency gave €170,000 for Rockfield Farm’s offering. American owner Repole Stable went to €145,000 for a Sioux Nation filly from Sherbourne Lodge.
