Promising Saxon Warrior Filly Lands First Win
Celestias Comet (3f Saxon Warrior - Tobairin, by Teofilo) gained a deserved first win when easily striking at Southwell on Tuesday.
The James Fanshawe-trained three-year-old had finished second on her last two starts, including when narrowly denied at Newmarket in August, and she justified her odds-on position here to win by four-and-a-quarter lengths.
Ridden by Jonny Peate, the Saxon Warrior filly settled behind the leaders and made headway from two furlongs out. She led approaching the final furlong and ran on well to readily capture the mile fillies’ novice contest.
Saxon Warrior has been represented this year by Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner and Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks third Garden Of Eden, Group 3 Hackwood Stakes scorer Rage Of Bamby and unbeaten German Group-winning juvenile Gostam.
Celestias Comet was bred by Prospect Stables.
