Rage of Bamby Captures Group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury
Rage of Bamby (5f Saxon Warrior – Rabiosa Fiore, by Sakhee’s Secret) delivered a career-best performance to capture the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury, showcasing both her speed and tenacity in a thrilling six-furlong contest.
Trained by Eve Johnson Houghton and partnered by regular rider Charlie Bishop, the five-year-old mare raced prominently on the stands’ side before asserting late to win convincingly by 1¾ lengths. It was a deserved success for the consistent filly, who was a Listed winner already and boasts a strong juvenile résumé that includes Group 1 form.
Rage of Bamby runs for Hot To Trot Racing and Mrs A G Kavanagh, and Saturday’s victory marks a significant return to form, underlining her quality and resilience. “We were almost at the point of retiring her,” revealed Bishop, “but it’s a reminder of what she’s capable of. This means a lot to all involved. Because we lease the filly, it was a big decision for the breeder to keep her in training this year. She has nothing to lose now … maybe head to Haydock for the Gr.1 Sprint Cup.”
Rage of Bamby was bred by Az Agr Capannacce Di Teodora Giorgi.
