Saxon Warrior Filly Goes One Better On Return

Crepe Suzette (3f Saxon Warrior – Sultanina, by New Approach) built on previous promise to make a winning return to action in the fillies’ maiden at Wolverhampton on Monday evening.

The John and Thady Gosden-trained filly was well-supported on debut at Newmarket in November only to be hampered coming out of stalls and went close next time out, beaten a head. The Normandie Stud homebred was sent off joint-favourite on her three-year-old return, as she stepped up to nine and a half furlongs, with Rob Havlin in the saddle.

Settled in second, she improved to lead two furlongs from home and was ridden approaching the final furlong. She kept on to deny her fellow market leader by a head, with another length and a quarter back to the third horse.

The Saxon Warrior filly has a two-year-old brother by Camelot, who sold to MV Magnier for €280,000 as a yearling.
