Second Group 3 Victory For Unbeaten Saxon Warrior Colt

Gostam (2c Saxon Warrior - Goiania, by Oasis Dream) maintained his unbeaten record when impressively landing a second Group 3 contest in the Preis des Winterfavoriten at Cologne on Sunday.

Trained by Andreas Wohler, the son of Saxon Warrior had run out an easy winner on debut when scoring by four lengths at Munich in July. Gostam then stepped up to Group company at Baden-Baden last month and struck by two lengths in the Zukunfts-Rennen.

Ridden by Eduardo Pedroza, Gostam pulled clear of his seven rivals by upwards of five lengths this time, with Churchill’s Lommi finishing in second.

Saxon Warrior’s other leading representatives this year include Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner and Group 1-placed Garden Of Eden, Group 3 Hackwood Stakes scorer Rage Of Bamby and Listed winner and Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan runner-up Sardinian Warrior.
