Sioux Nation Colt Draws Clear To Maiden Victory
A change in tactics saw Neolithic (2c Sioux Nation – Starlite Sienna, by Elusive Pimpernel) get off the mark in Saturday’s Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race at Naas.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt made virtually all of the running under Wayne Lordan and was asked to quicken after passing the two-furlong marker. Ridden clear a furlong later, he went on to score by three lengths, with another two and three quarter lengths back to the favourite in third.
"He worked very well last Saturday,” Ballydoyle representative Chris Armstrong revealed after the race. “Wayne gave him a lovely ride, jumped out and made his mind up. From halfway he just kept building every furlong and they never got to him.
“He's a horse that has shown plenty of ability at home and I think we’re starting to see it now. He's not in the Railway but we'll have plenty of options over six during the summer.”
Neolithic was bought by Castlehyde Stud as a foal for 210,000gns and is now owned by Coolmore partners and Westerberg. The son of Sioux Nation was bred by T Molan.
