Phenomenal Filly (sioux nation) Wins At Leopardstown

Sioux Nation Juvenile Not For Catching At Leopardstown

The well-regarded Phenomenal Filly (2f Sioux Nation – Delhi, by High Chaparral) made all to win her second start in Thursday’s seven-furlong fillies’ maiden at Leopardstown.

Entered in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, the Paddy Twomey-trained bay finished a promising fifth on debut at the Curragh and was sent off second favourite on her next attempt. Billy Lee asked the Bond Thoroughbred-owned juvenile to quicken from two furlongs out and she kept on well to score by a length and a quarter.

“She came forward from her debut,” Twomey commented. “She’s a nice filly and I’m delighted with that. She was green there 12 days ago and she’s come forward plenty.

“She’s in the Lowther, she qualifies for the Goffs Million and that might look like a good fit for her at the moment.”

Bred by David Byrne & Pierce Molony, Phenomenal Filly was bought by Jason Kelly as a yearling for €135,000. She became Sioux Nation’s second two-year-old winner in as many days, with Novelette (2f Sioux Nation – Restless Endeavour, by Dandy Man) having gotten off the mark at Yarmouth on Wednesday.

Placed on both her previous starts, Simon and Ed Crisford’s representative was sent off second favourite for the fillies’ novice stakes over the minimum trip. Positioned in second by Hollie Doyle, the £410,000 breeze-up buy was pushed along from two furlongs out and ran on well to lead inside the final 110 yards, going on to score by a length and a quarter.

The improving filly was bred by Manor Farm Bloodstock.
