Sioux Nation Sires Smart Juvenile Winner At The Curragh
Stop The Nation (2c Sioux Nation – Ultra Violet, by Gleneagles) built on a promising debut to run out a smart winner at the Curragh on Saturday.
Jack Davison’s charge chased home what looked like a smart prospect on debut at Dundalk and was sent off second favourite to go one better in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race over five furlongs. Partnered by James Ryan on Saturday, the bay was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong and kept on well to beat £240,000 buy Aegina by half a length.
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said: “You could see today he was green again but when I gave him a kick at the furlong pole he really stretched out and put it to bed. I thought it was a very good performance.
“I think on the feel he gave me today that we’re very hopeful he can be a stakes horse. I think he’s a horse that will keep improving during the year.”
The promising son of Sioux Nation is owned by the New Recruits Partnership and was bred by Cottage Bloodstock.
