Son Of Saxon Warrior Gains Maiden Victory

Marnier (3g Saxon Warrior - Manzanilla, by Muhaarar) got off the mark with an easy strike at Lingfield on Tuesday.

The Normandie Stud homebred had placed on three previous occasions, including when finishing a narrow second at Yarmouth in May.

Trained by John and Thady Gosden, Marnier settled in second under Rab Havlin and came to take up the lead three furlongs out. The pair came home to win the mile-and-a-half maiden by four and three-quarter lengths.

Saxon Warrior's recent winners also include Australian Group 3 scorer Sheza Alibi, as well as the unbeaten dual Group-winning juvenile Gostam and Listed Star Appeal Stakes scorer Andab.
