Son Of Saxon Warrior Wins Group 3 On Return

Saxon Warrior’s fine run continued on Sunday when last year’s German Derby runner-up Borna (4c Saxon Warrior – Kingdom Come, by King’s Best) made a winning return to action in the Group 3 Premio Ambrosiano.

Henk Grewe’s raider was sent off favourite for the ten-furlong contest and made all under Clement Lecoeuvre. Ridden clear from the two-furlong pole, he ran on strongly to score by a length and three quarters, with another three lengths back to the third horse.

Borna was Group 2-placed as a juvenile and won the Group 2 Derby Italiano last May, before being narrowly denied by Palladium (Gleneagles) in Hamburg. The son of Saxon Warrior is owned by Darius Racing and was bred by Haras d’Ecouves.
