Crystal Ocean Filly Captures Maiden Win Over Hurdles
Crystal Spring (4f Crystal Ocean - Simonia, by Yeats) landed her first win with a comfortable success over hurdles at Huntingdon on Tuesday.
Trained by Stuart Edmunds, the daughter of Crystal Ocean had placed in three of her previous five starts, including when second at Fakenham in May.
Ridden by Charlie Hammond, the odds-on Crystal Spring made all and showed a game attitude to repel the challenging Scavengers Reign by three-quarters of a length. There was a further 19 lengths back to the third-placed runner.
The filly is another promising winner for Crystal Ocean, whose progeny also include seven-length Auteuil Listed-winning hurdler Saint Crystal and Stratford bumper scorer Watamu.
Crystal Spring was bred by Virginia McGrath.
