Crystal Ocean Four-Year-Old Lands Aintree Bumper

The future looks bright for Rebel Tribesman (4g Crystal Ocean – You Should Know Me, by Oscar) after the four-year-old beat two previous winners in Friday’s point-to-point bumper at Aintree.

Eamonn O’Donnabhain’s was well-supported on debut at Garthorpe last month, when he finished well to take third, and was reunited with Sean O’Connor at Aintree. Racing prominently over the two-mile-and-one-furlong trip, the Crystal Ocean gelding led approaching the final furlong and kept on well to score by a length, with another three parts of a length back to the joint-favourite in third.

Owned by S Macauley and bred by Liam O’Regan, Rebel Tribesman is a half-brother to Grade 3 hurdler Filey Bay. He hails from the first crop of Beeches Stud sire Crystal Ocean.
