Crystal Ocean Sires Four-Year-Old Maiden Double

Pointofdifference (4g Crystal Ocean – Rosika, by Sakhee) completed a four-year-old double for Crystal Ocean on Sunday when making a winning debut in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Bartlemy.

Mary Doyle’s newcomer raced prominently under Brian Dunleavy and asserted after the third last. A good jump at the last assured victory, with the bay going on to score by four and a half lengths, with the same margin back again to the third.

Sold by Evergreen Stud at the Goffs Arkle Sale for €80,000, Pointofdifference was bred by Soutchort Stud, who also bred his sire.

Thirty minutes prior at Loughrea, Crystal Du Berlais (4m Crystal Ocean – Agathe Du Berlais, by Poliglote) took the four-year-old mares’ maiden for owner/trainer Robert Tector.

A promising fourth on debut in March, the Crystal Ocean mare was sent off favourite on her second start and chased the leaders for much of the way under Barry Stone. Progressing into second after the penultimate fence, she led before the last and kept on to score by five lengths. Lady O’Larkin (Walk In The Park) made a promising debut in second, 17 lengths clear of the remainder.

The winner was bred by Ballinaroone Stud.
