Crystal Ocean’s Progeny Continue To Shine
Crystal Ocean’s popularity continued at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, where two of his progeny sold for six-figure sums on the first day of trade.
Frank Berry secured the most expensive lot by the Beeches Stud sire, going to €115,000 for a gelding from Wardington Gate Farm. After signing the docket as O’Neill Racing, Berry commented: “He is a lovely horse, he just needs to be lucky. We will get him home and broken in, then make plans for him.”
Sold on behalf of Lady Jane Grosvenor, the April-born bay is the second produce of the unraced Milan mare Dream Pioneer.
Later in the session, Gordon Elliott went to €100,000 for Redpender Stud’s Crystal Ocean gelding. Elliott is evidently a fan of the sire, having given €200,000 for another Crystal Ocean at the recent Goffs Arkle Sale.
Oak Tree Farm sold a Crystal Ocean gelding at Goffs for €170,000 and continued their good fortune when selling another at Tattersalls Ireland for €90,000. Cleaboy Stud signed for the successful pinhook.
At the close of business on Wednesday, Crystal Ocean’s progeny averaged €62,692; markedly more than the overall average price of € 47,325.
