Debut Winner Continues Smart Run For Crystal Ocean

She’s A Fair Maid (4m Crystal Ocean – Maid Of Might, by Flemensfirth) continued Crystal Ocean’s smart start between the flags when winning the four-year-old mares maiden at Monksgrange on Sunday.

Patrick Turley’s newcomer was sent off second-favourite to another Crystal Ocean mare, and raced prominently throughout under Declan Lavery. The bay asserted before the second last and kept on gamely from the final fence to win by three parts of a length, with another five and a half lengths back to the third.

The debut winner was bred by Peter Dundon out of a full-sister to Grade 1 hurdler O O Seven (Flemensfirth). She rounded off a successful March for Crystal Ocean, featuring another debut four-year-old winner in Green Hint, an impressive Listed winner at Auteuil, and a £400,000 sales topper at Cheltenham.
