Impressive Listed Winner From First Crop Of Crystal Ocean

Saint Crystal (4g Crystal Ocean – Sainte Bumble, by Saint Des Saints) showed his class when running out an impressive winner of the Listed Prix General de Rougemont at Auteuil on Saturday.

The Dominique Bressou-trained bay got off the mark in a Class 2 hurdle at Pau in January and was partnered by Kevin Nabet on his first start in blacktype company. He made all of the running in the two-mile-and-two-furlong contest and had his rivals in trouble turning for home. Pushed along to quicken clear from the final flight, he was eased down to lead by seven lengths on the line.

Owned and bred by Patrick Joubert and Ecurie Couderc, Saint Crystal hails from the first crop of Crystal Ocean. He continues a successful week for the young sire, whose first point-to-point winner, Cristal d’Estruval, topped the Tattersalls Cheltenham Festival Sale at £400,000.
